Seabear-The Gohst The Carried Us Away

Here is a really great record. Seabear are an indie folk band from Iceland who know how to make a quality record. This record is a very good but unusual record. The mood of the record varies from sad to happy to relaxed. they used country music instruments like a banjo harmonica and washboard but what is unusual about this album is that it does not resemble any style of country music I have ever heard. I would classify it as kind of an off beat alternative country/new folk record. Its different but its a good different. The vocals on the album are incredible they are very calming and mellow. the relaxed vocals are put behind wonderful music and the whole record comes together perfectly. I would defiantly recommend it.

Four Tet-Dialogue

This album is pure trippy bliss. Just sit back and let the music play you will find yourself drifting off to another world entirely. Kieran Hebden who is Four Tet is a musical genius who fuses a good number of diverse genres into his music. This is great music to play anytime of the day when you just want to chill out. but the music is also very rhythmic and easy to dance to. it fits all moods and will defiantly brighten your day.

Marissa Nadler-Songs III: Bird on the Water

Lately i've been enjoying the beautiful voice of Marissa Nadler. She creates her own style of folk music and has a beautiful haunting voice. I believe Pitchfork described her voice best as "a voice you would follow straight into Hades." the music is also magnificent it is very dreamy and atmospheric you can hear the true folk music in this record, the folk music that is not commercialized or altered in any way but is pure and from the heart.

Erics Trip

Erics trip are one of the greatest lo-fi bands of all time. The sad thing is they are completely forgotten. You can not find an Eric's Trip album anywhere you look. I ordered one of their albums on Amazon and I hate useing Amazon. I waited for three weeks and then got a letter from them saying that they did not have the item in stock anymore. I was rather dismayed but I got my money back and went strait to the Sub-pop records site and got both Love Tara and Forever Again. these albums lived up to my expectations and are now in heavy rotation. I thought I would share the world.

Times New Viking-Rip It Off

This Is one of the loudest albums I have ever heard in my life. Times New Viking are masters of distortion. They overdrive their albums beyond the point where anyone would want to listen. They are proud of that fact to. As far as the music .witch you can barely hear, its basic pop songs with guitar keyboards and drums. The album is almost pure distortion and is guaranteed to give you a headache but once you get past all of the noise there are some really well structured songs. I love how the album comes together and how they are just trying to have fun and make some cool music. defiantly a band to check out.

Under Electric Light

I found a new band that I cant get enough of called Under Electric Light heres some stuff from them.

Bio from Last.fm:
After years of secretly singing over records as a child in his native Victoriaville (somewhere between Quebec city and Montreal, Canada), Danny Provencher started playing bass in his secondary school band. He then moved to Montreal where he started writing and producing electronic music on his own as Under Electric Light. After the release of his first EP (Untitled, 2002), which received good local reviews, he decided to sing over his instrumental pop songs and released the Never See The Light EP (2005) and Blue EP (2006). While making the After the Blue EP (2007), Danny tried to blend his various influences to achieve a truly personal sound, focusing on melodies and arrangements to create well crafted pop songs. Be prepared to see Under Electric Light on stage sometime in 2008.

Sae Monster-We Didn't Need To Breathe

Heres a cool song that I found by a band called Seamonster

Bio from last.fm:
Seamonster is the overactive imaginings of Adrian Seamonster set to a carnival backdrop of analogue warbles, drawing tastefully from the Elephant Six vibe - accordions and toy instruments, imaginary friends and half-broken acoustic guitars. The songs sound like they were written in a bliss trance, and threaten to put any listener in one as well.

CocoRosie Live at la Guinguette Pirate (2004)

This is one of the greatest recording of a live show I have heard in a while. I am A huge Cocorosie fan and was excited to find this album. It is a very good quality recording of some of Cocorosies greatest work. The instrumentation is phenomenal there is Piano, Guitar, Beatboxing, Organ, and children's toys. The vocal performance is also amazing. with the unusual style of singing and the strange yet appropriate opera style singing in the background. also the overall quality of the recording is wonderful it is very high tech and sounds as if you were actually at the show.

Devendra Banhart-Oh Me Oh My

This is some really cool Freak Folk music that I have stumbled upon. it is the second album by Devendra Banhart. He has a very strange voice and the music is wonderful. The lyrics are very cool. He is part of the New Weird America movement witch is a relatively modern movement with bands that play very unusual psychedelic music. defiantly worth a listen.

Casiotone For The Painfully Alone-Etiquette

This has become one of my favorite albums recently. Casiotone For The Painfully Alone is the solo project of Owen Ashworth. Before this album most of his songs were just him and a single Casiotone key board. For Etiquette he has added more instruments and an overall better produced sound. The album is constantly on rotation in my house and it will continue to be one of my favorites.

11 old songs from Mount Eerie

Ok I have been a huge fan of Phil Elvrum, Mount Eerie and The Microphones for a long time. I was shocked when i found this album. It was a good shock. The entire album was nothing but Phil's voice and a Casiotone key board. The album is very different sounding but in my opinion one of their better releases. It captures the true sound of Phil's voice without distorting it at all and the lyrics are very impressive as always.
